Job description
The instrumentation technician will be reporting to the maintenance department manager and will be responsible for the following activities:
o Calibration, test and inspection activities
– Responsible for calibrating the field instruments such (Flow meters, temperature elements and transmitters, pressure gauges, pressure relief valves, weigh scales, level transmitters…etc.)
– Test and Inspection of the operating hoses and pipelines
– Maintaining the calibration plan and coordinate with inhouse as well as external 3rd inspection entities whenever required
– Maintain all calibration records
o Instruments & control system troubleshooting
– Lead the electrical maintenance activities
– Interact closely with production, plant and functional supervisors and managers to ensure their requirements are being met.
– Supervise, maintain and update the preventive maintenance and test & inspection plans
– Install, maintain, repair (if applicable) and test a wide range of industrial instrumentation that record and regulate level, flow, pressure, temperature and position
– Troubleshoot process controller hardware and maintain the functional knowledge of the control systems and hardware (i.e. PLC, Scada, Field controllers…etc.)
– Lays out, install and place into service new instruments, controlling and recording devices, calibrating as required; may extend or connect related electrical circuits.
– Read and interprets wiring diagrams, mechanical & pneumatic drawings, and specification in making installation or performing major repair work
o Supervisory responsibilities
– Support in developing the maintenance team
– Improve the efficiency of the maintenance processes for the site (develop standards implementation & improvement)
– Update the departments’ dashboards, progress and achievements and submit to department manager
– Coordinate all inter-department flows’ and improvement actions
– Knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations including product and employee safety, and OSHA standards.
– Lead, track and improve performance on key location goals and objectives.
– Understanding of safety standards (general as well as electrical)
Qualification and desired skills
The selected candidate should be meeting below requirements:
o Diploma Holder in Instrumentation, or EEE with 3-4 years’ of experience in a continuous process or manufacturing industry
o Working knowledge of control systems, industrial automation, pneumatic and robotics
o Hands on experience on industrial instruments calibration
o Working knowledge of motors, drives and UPS
o Able to read and program logics.
o A person with ‘can do’ attitude who can work with minimum supervision
o Willingness to work on rotation shift basis
o Good verbal and written communication skills (English)
o Working knowledge of using MS Office packs including email writing
