JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Assumes command of the vessel.
2. Keeps a navigational watch while vessel is afloat, when in transit between locations. Carries the ultimate responsibility for all collision avoidance in accordance with the International Rule of the Road for Collision avoidance.
3. Supervises the activities of all personnel on assigned offshore barge. Performs supervisory functions at the level established by management for the position.
4.Achieves correct barge loading to ensure that daily working variables are within design limits.
5.Calculates leg reaction and leg motor torque necessary to hold correct position and establishes center of gravity to required safe parameters.
6.Instructs the Chief Officer, Chief Engineer, Electrician and Second Engineer as required in order to ensure maintenance/repair work is carried out as per the established procedures of the Company.
7. Prepares for classification survey to prove the sea-worthiness of the vessel.
8.Co-ordinates and monitors all preventive maintenance activity on an assigned barge and ensures the timely execution of such maintenance on barge machinery, electrical and hydraulic equipment.
9.Supervises and participates in various inspection activities in accordance with Company and statutory requirements.
10.Supervises and arranges for the preparation of barge moves.
* Must have Master certificate of Competency (Management level)
* 8 years of relevant experience preferably on barges.
