Job : SENIOR TECHNICAL ARCHITECT | TEAM LEADER
Reports to General Manager/ Head of Department
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for producing Architectural & I.D shop drawings independently for small projects and in collaboration with Architectural technicians while working on large projects.
2. Responsible for coordination with suppliers of various materials while detailing shop drawings.
3. Responsible for coordinating with in house joinery production department while detailing any joinery elements to ensure workable & cost effective details are proposed in shop drawings.
4. Responsible for coordinating with Operations Team (Site Engineers & Project Managers) to provide them with required drawings to carry out their site execution works.
5. Maintain / organize project files, schedules and specifications. Ensure all documentation & information received from Main Contractor/ Suppliers/Client/Authorities/Consultants & Subcontractors are all filed as per the Design Department Filing Procedures.
6. Responsible for making Site visits and assisting the Construction & Production Teams with any technical issues.
7. Attend progress meetings on site to ensure the technical drawings are produced effectively and approved within the contractual time constraints to avoid any delays on site as required by the Department Head.
8. Coordinate with The Operations Team and the In House Production Team to ensure the correct site measurements and levels are considered from the Site survey done by Operations Team and to incorporate these actual site conditions in the shop drawings as necessary.
9. To coordinate with the pre & post Quantity Surveyors to ensure technical details for projects are in accordance with the commercial agreement and any variations are highlighted to the Design Team, Department Head, Post Q.S & the Commercial team.
10. Coordinate with MEP & structural consultants/ subcontractors in terms of design requirements, technical drawings submissions, follow ups and approval procedures.
11. Responsible for drafting precise RFI’s & clarifications supported with 2D & 3D illustrations both using CAD & hand sketches/ markups for issue during construction Projects.
12. Maintaining an updated RFI log and ensuring the responses received are communicated to the entire team i.e Design, Production, Operations , Commercial & Post Q.S
13. Responsible for producing conceptual design presentation drawings and illustrations in 2D & 3D for Design & Build Projects.
14. Responsible for Selection of materials, preparing mood boards and presentation to Clients & Consultants as necessary for Design & Build Projects.
15. Preparing of Authority approval related drawings for DM & DCD approvals and following up the approval process for the Fitout Applications on the DM portal under the guidance of Department Head.
16. Liaising with the DM engineers through online and in person appointments at the Municipality to follow up on Fitout applications under the guidance of Department Head.
17. Do periodical research and development to upgrade quality of work and update design trends.
18. Lead a team of Architectural Technicians on projects and monitor the following:
o Prepare as per tender documentation the required list of shop drawing submittals
o Assign time frames for completion of various shop drawing submittals and help prepare & update the shop drawing logs as required by the Department Head.
o Monitor and prioritize drawings and submissions as per project requirement
o Monitor the quality and level of detail of drawings is satisfactory to be executed on site.
19. Maintain and populate a library of commonly used details under the guidance of Department Head and ensure the team is producing documentation in line with set templates for projects with standardized details and presentation styles.
20. Handling any other design jobs as delegated by the GM/Head of Department.
